The Festival of Archaeology is returning once again for its 25th
year running and is set to give visitors an amazing day out in North Wales and
other parts of the UK. You can enjoy a day full of history and archaeology, as
you immerse yourself into the sounds, sights and smells of life during the
Roman era.
Meet Roman characters to see what they can teach you, while
enjoying some fantastic Roman cookery and go on the mystery excavation – all
within close distance to a selection of fantastic accommodation. There are
lodges in Snowdonia available for those who wish to attend the Meillionydd
excavation open days on 11th – 12th July 2015.
Morfa Lodge Holiday Park is a popular choice for accommodation, so
book your stay at one of their lodges in Snowdonia. The Saturday 11th
July is the perfect day too as you can enjoy your time at the Festival of Archaeology 2015 during the day, and then join in the fun at the holiday park
with entertainment by Elv’s Disco and a brilliant Hog Roast in the evening.
You will learn all about Roman life in Wales, with accurate and
interesting facts and stories being told to all those that visit. On top of all
this, you can enjoy the military displays, ballista demonstrations and cheer on
your favourite gladiator in their immense battles for all to enjoy.
There is plenty to go at this weekend in Caernarfon, with this
event being perfect for guests at our holiday park and the locals. The event is
coordinated by the Council for British Archaeology, encouraging all visitors to
explore the archaeology of their local area. You can watch experts at work and
participate in fun and games throughout the day.
You can experience first-hand techniques for digging and
identifying finds. You can also enjoy the farm and woodland-themed activities,
talks and latest discoveries, plus expert-led walks. The excitement doesn’t
stop there, as you can even visit a nuclear bunker and find out for yourself
how the Victorians made ice cream.
There will be lots of opportunities throughout the event to
experience life as a Roman, Greek and Egyptian with living history, warfare
demonstrations, food tasting and mosaic making to be done. We are close by to
the event throughout the two weeks it is taking place, so be sure to book your
stay with us for the ultimate holiday this summer!
