Mountain Bike Routes in North Wales

North Wales is well known as a mountain bike Conwy paradise, with a series of routes which are perfect for bikers of all skill levels. From natural routes to man (and woman!) made masterpieces, North Wales offers so much for mountain bikers, it receives attention from around the world.

The Marin Trail (or as it’s called now, the Gwydir Mawr) is a 25km long trail throughout the scenic (and historic) Gwydir Forest right next to the pretty town of Llanrwst, and is a well respected trail which is popular for cycling Llandudno. With a lot of variety in it, the trail is well maintained and boasts superb quality throughout.

Facilities at Gwydir Mawr / The Marin Trail are no problem, either. Llanrwst is right next to the Gwydir Mawr, and offers so very much in the way of excellent, mountain biking facilities. From restaurants to accommodation, Llanrwst has everything you need for a great stay with a great range of accommodation.

Llanrwst is also close to so many other great trails in the area, too. From the arduous Llanfihangel GM Two Lake Tour (which takes you through the Clocaenog Forest up all the way to the Alwen Reservoir for beautiful views of Snowdonia and the Clwydian Range) as well as Hiraethog and Llyn Brenig within spitting distance of this incredible little Welsh town, we can’t recommend Llanrwst as a base for your mountain biking adventure in North Wales enough.
