When planning a visit to North Wales there is one area in particular that will always end up on the list; Snowdonia. There is so much to see and to do in the area with regards to landscapes, activities and mountain ranges, with barely enough hours in the day to accommodate for it. The Porthmadog area is always bustling with activity and rife with tourism throughout the entire year. Blaenau Ffestiniog
The train from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog is a quick means to see some Snowdonia’s most unique and picturesque sights. This town was once the “town that roofed the world”, with slate from Blaenau Ffestiniog being exported to countries far and wide. The slate caverns are an incredibly popular tourist attraction that takes you underground to learn about the workings of a Victorian mine, from the perspective of the “ghost” of a 12 year old miner, Sion.
Blaenau is also home to the Antur Stiniog Mountain Biking Centre, which has become quite popular over the years amongst the biking community. The downhill biking trails found in Blaenau are something to be admired, however, Antur Stiniog also organises walking, kayaking, fishing, camping and so much more.
